Their food is amazing. Their hush puppies are out of this world, hands down the best I've ever had. I love how their fish is extremely fresh and made to order.
Great soul food for a reasonable price. The collard greens, yams, and fried fish were delicious. I wouldn't get the sandwiches again because the bread isn't good quality and it's basically low quality bread with almost no toppings
Every time we are in the DC area, I plan a trip to Horace and Dickies!! Their food is always delicious, ALWAYS! The fish is fried perfectly and very flavorful! The collards were obviously made with love, seasoned to perfection! The Mac and Cheese taste like my mother in law made and she's a beast in the kitchen. If you're planning a trip to come check out the food, you will not be disappointed!!
If your from DC you know about H&D. Especially the one that use to by U Street. I don't know about why they closed, but it's missed. This location is tricky to get in. You have to park , back in. Drivers around here ain't friendly, especially when you are trying to make a left turn onto where the restaurant is. I got fish box platter, 3 PC fish, fries and 2pc bread for like $12. The fish is whiting. The taste has changed, it seems that they cut corners and use a cheaper quality of fish. It's a lot thinner and not very crispy as before. You get one tarter sauce and one hot sauce. It's extra after that. I'll continue to support them. Service was good, I just hope they improve on getting higher quality of fish. Back in the U STREET DAYS, fish use to be deep fried in a heavy coat of corn meal and huge pieces of fish. I'll still return. Their crab cake is ok, too much filler. And gotta make room for pies!
